This is the first time I am decorating my home for Halloween. Usually, I only do Fall decorations which lasts me into the Holidays. This time I merged my Fall decor with Halloween decor so I can easily take the Halloween decor down and have my modern home still feel cozy for Fall. Let’s be clear, I didn’t want to transform my home into a haunted house with creepy things. I prefer my decor to be minimalist, sophisticated and modern with some fun. If you are looking for easy but sophisticated Halloween decoration ideas for your home, I’ve got a few ideas for you!
How To Transform Your Modern Home Easily Using Sophisticated Halloween Decor
When I saw these bats flood the ‘gram, I knew I had to get my hands on them for my modern home! The bats are an easy way to transform your home using minimal effort. The beautiful floral skull was found on my trip to Mexico City that fits right into my minimalist black and white home decor. I aimed for easy Halloween decor ideas that are elevated for a modern home yet still inexpensive. I recommend keeping it simply by adding only a few Halloween decorations so not to overwhelm your home.

Halloween Decor Ideas For Your Entry Way In A Modern Home
3D Bats & Cobb Webs For Wall Decor
I am sure you have seen these 3D bats all over Instagram by now. You can find the bats on Amazon here. I bought a package of 24 bats that also included the cobwebs. Staggering the bats in an upwards diagonal angle creates an illusion that they are flying away. I added the cobweb to the mirror leaving a little space so I can still use the mirror daily. Decorating my entry way took under 15 minutes.
Skulls & Skeletons
I mentioned that I found my skull in Mexico City but you can find a similar skull without the designs at Target for $5! I made sure the skull and skeleton hands went with my black and white modern theme. These dog skeletons are also a fun Halloween decor idea that would fit right into a modern home.
Dark Candles & Candlestick Holders
The black candlestick holders from Amazon are what I use year round. But changing the candles from white to black gave it the eerie feeling I was looking for in my entry way decor. It’s a very inexpensive and easy way to decorate for Halloween.
Porcelain & Fabric Pumpkins
I used my porcelain pumpkin that I found at Home Goods as a bowl for Halloween candy. The dollar section at Target has many inexpensive yet sophisticated options for porcelain and fabric pumpkins.

Halloween Home Decor Ideas For Open Shelving In Your Kitchen
Eucalyptus & Bunny Tails
Using darker colored eucalyptus and bunny tails is a great transition to Fall decor. I recommend the preserved ones from Aflora as they look real. Another cheap option is buying real eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s that you spray paint a dark color. I also added real mums to add a little color to the black and white theme.
Black & White Tableware
I store much of my black and white tableware on my open kitchen shelves year round so I did not remove them. I simply added a Halloween themed mug and pumpkin shaped treat canister.

How To Transform Your Living Room Using Chic Halloween Decor
Cozy Blankets
Fall for me means lots of cozy blankets on the couch which Teddy ends up claiming for himself. Most of my blankets are from Target as they have a great selection to choose from.
Black Wooden Bead Garland
I exchanged my usual white bead garland for a black one to go with the darker theme of Halloween. The black wooden bead garland looks so good I may just keep it there all year!
Decorative Matches
Black decorative matches are the final touch that I added to my living room Halloween decor. They added a simple modern feel to my living room.
