How To Celebrate The Holidays In Atlanta With Your Dog
Take Photos With The “Merry Christmas You Filthy Animal” Sign At Ponce City Market
The “Merry Christmas You Filthy Animal” Sign is back at Ponce City Market. It has been installed for the holidays the past few years and it always puts a smile on my face. After all, I end up watching Home Alone a few times every Christmas season to get me into the holiday spirit. Although the food hall and roof top at Ponce City Market is not dog friendly, the open air area and most of the shops are so you can stroll around after taking a photo here.
Visit A Dog Friendly Tree Farm
There are many dog friendly tree farms in Atlanta but my favorite is Scottsdale Farms. In fact, they also have the best pumpkin patch! Even if you have a faux tree (like me) it’s worth the drive to get photos at this tree farm. I recommend going early to beat the crowd.
Bake Homemade gingerbread treats with your dog. get the recipe here.
Enjoy Drive-thru Holiday Lights With Your Dog
One of my favorite activities during the holiday season is to see the dazzling displays of lights. When I want to bring my dog along to see the lights with me, I go through a drive-thru holiday light display. This way Teddy can be comfortable and warm in the car while enjoying the spectacular lights. Two places you can do that is at the Lights of Life in Marietta and the Atlanta Festival of Lights at Atlantic Station. Take note, both get very busy during peak season.
Get Family Photos With Santa
Nothing screams the holiday season then getting photos with Santa. There are many places in Atlanta that are dog friendly and allow you to bring your dog along to get family photos with Santa.
Here’s a list of places you can get photos with Santa that are dog friendly:
Take note, some places only allow dogs on certain days so please check each individual schedule.
Visit Atlanta’s Christkindl Market
The Christkindl Market is based on a traditional German market. You can walk around and enjoy the festive atmosphere while eating German food and shopping the many vendors. This year the Chriskindl Market is located at The Buckhead Village District with over 50 vendors. Admission is free. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
