Welcome to the month of celebrating all types of love including the bond between dog and dog owner!
Growing up, I celebrated Valentine’s Day with many sweet treats including candy hearts, sweet hearts, and a box of chocolate or two. Obviously, our dogs can’t celebrate with human treats made from calcium carbonate or chocolate. So to celebrate the special day with my furry valentine, I baked easy heart-shaped dog cookies using strawberries.
I’m a strong believer that we should put in just as much effort in celebrating love in February as every month. This is why these homemade heart-shaped treats can be made year-round for your furry friends to show extra love, not just for Valentine’s day.
This dog treat recipe calls for only four ingredients and is made healthy by using coconut oil and strawberries. The recipe can be made grain-free by using coconut flour. Although, you can use any flour you presently have in your pantry. These heart-shaped dog treats even make a great homemade Valentine’s day gift idea for friends’ dogs!

Ingredient And Recipe Notes
Coconut flour tends to soak in wet ingredients and the consistency is more wet and sticky than regular flour. I recommend using floured hands to manipulate the dough instead of a rolling pin.
Using a different flour such as ground whole wheat flour will change the consistency, the time needed to bake the cookies and the final look for the dog Valentine’s Day treats.
