Make The Dinosaur Cage For Your Dog Or Children
The size of the dinosaur cage you will need to make depends on the size of your dog and children. Keep in mind that the cage will be placed in a wagon to be pulled around in a Halloween parade or while trick or treating.
To create the dinosaur cage for my family costume with a small dog, I picked up eight 1/2 in x 36 in wood round dowels, four 3/4in x 36in wood square dowels, and black spray paint from Home Depot. You can either have the dowels cut in half at Home Depot when you purchase them or saw them in half yourself. The easiest way to assemble the dinosaur cage is using a glue gun but alternatively, you can use wood screws to drill the wood dowels together to be more stable. This tutorial makes a x by x cage for a small dog. For larger dogs or children, purchase longer dowels. For reference, my dog is about 12 pounds.
First, if you didn’t have the wood dowels cut at Home Depot, then cut the dowels to size. Saw the 4 square dowels and 8 round dowels in half.
Second, make the cage’s top and bottom base by using the glue gun to glue together the square dowels. You will have two equal squares at the end of this step.
Third, attach the round dowels to your square bases. Glue gun the round dowels to one of the wooden squares you created making sure to place the dowels equidistant. Flip the structure over, and screw the bottom wooden square to the dowels. Some dowels may not be perfectly aligned. For these, I used a glue gun to fill in the space. Remember, this doesn’t have to be perfect.
Fourth, spray paint the dinosaur cage black.
