Make this heart-shaped dog pancake recipe as a special treat to celebrate your dog’s birthday, their gotcha days, or Valentine’s Day.
Made with only three dog-safe ingredients, these dog pancakes are not only easy but healthy for your furry friend.

Easy Heart-Shaped Dog Pancake Recipe For Dogs
I was thinking of ways to spoil my dogs for Valentine’s day that would be super easy using ingredients I already had at home. I’m a waffle girlie (waffles with chocolate chips are the way to my heart), but I didn’t have the cute heart-shaped waffle maker I have seen all over the internet.
Instead, I made doggy pancakes using heart-shaped cookie cutters that I already had at home and simple ingredients like flour, banana, and egg. That’s it! Who knew dog pancakes were so easy to make?
Making these dog pancakes at home allowed me to omit unnecessary ingredients, such as hidden sugars from artificial sweeteners or maple sugar. The ripe banana adds enough sweetness to the natural dog pancakes.
Adding your dog’s favorite toppings to the pancakes is the best part and will have your dog drooling even before they take a bite!
As always, when introducing new foods to your dog, please consult your vet.

Ingredients You Need For Easy Dog-friendly Pancakes
This dog pancake recipe was made with simple ingredients, so it was easy to make and healthy for dogs with sensitive tummies. No baking soda or added sugar from artificial sweeteners or maple syrup was added.
Equipment Needed
- Medium bowl
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter
Step By Step: How To Make Heart-Shaped Dog Pancakes
- Mix all wet and dry ingredients, flour, egg, and banana, in a large bowl until combined well.
- Add teaspoons of water to the mixture if the pancake batter is too dry.
- Put a frying pan on medium heat. When heated, spray with a dog-safe oil of choice and pour the batter into the heart-shaped cookie cutter.
- Use oven mitts to very carefully remove the cookie cutter as the batter starts to cook. It will be HOT.
- Depending on the thickness of the dog pancake, cook each pancake for about 2 minutes on each side.
- Allow dog pancakes to cool.
- Optionally add toppings to the plain pancakes such as greek yogurt, strawberries, and peanut butter before giving them to your dog to enjoy.

Recipe Variations
- Instead of using the cookie cutter to shape the dog pancake on the pan, make large oblong pancakes and use a cookie cutter to cut heart shapes out of the larger pancake.
- To make oat flour, simply grind oatmeal in a blender until fine powder
- Use alternative flour for dogs with wheat intolerance, including oat flour, almond flour and coconut flour.
- Other optional toppings you can use include a drizzle of peanut butter, a dollop of cottage cheese, and blueberries.
- A smaller heart-shaped cookie cutter will make a small pancake, great for small dogs. While big dogs may prefer large pancakes using a bigger cookie cutter.
