Every year it seems people start decorating for the holidays earlier and earlier. I can understand why you may want to start early. The atmosphere during the holidays always puts me in a good mood. The holiday lights, the smell of pine, the good food, being with friends and family. It all creates a festive jolly vibe that puts a smile on my face. Last year was the first time in my adult life that I put up and decorated a faux Christmas tree and I loved how it turned out! I also enjoy bringing a touch of the holidays into each room without blowing my budget. Whether you have already started decorating your home for Christmas or prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving, here are easy ways to decorate your home for the holidays while on a budget.
Easy Ways To Decorate Your Dog-Friendly Home For The Holidays While On A Budget
Decorate Your Home With Fresh Or Faux Pine Garland
Whether you love fresh or faux garland, you can’t go wrong with using it as decor in your home. The mantle is a great place to start but don’t just stop there. Get creative and use it anywhere such as draped over doorways or your banister and as part of your centerpiece on your table. Try hanging your garlands in an asymmetrical look to get a completely different aesthetic. And add layers using this pom pom garland ($10) or wooden bead garland ($15)
Add Holiday Cheer To Your Dog’s Space
While decorating your home for the holidays, don’t forget about your dog’s space. There are many ways you can include your dog for the holidays, such as hanging a stocking for them. I decorate a small 3ft Christmas tree for Teddy along with adding lots of lights and garland to his teepee.
Create a DIY Christmas Tree Using Lights
Don’t have the time, space or money to get a real or faux Christmas tree? That doesn’t mean you can’t get creative. You can easily use a string of lights and command hooks to create a Christmas tree to make your home festive while sticking to your budget. The best part is that you can use it to hold all the holiday cards you may receive. The string of lights at Target cost $5.
Decorate Your Mantle
There are so many ways you can decorate your fireplace or mantle. Mix different textured garlands, stockings, candles and holiday themed figurines to create a unique mantle for you home.
Hang Stockings In Unexpected Places
No fireplace or mantle? No problem! Hang your stockings in new places such as a blanket ladder or a console table. These Christmas stockings are from Target for $5-$10.
Use Ornaments Or Pinecones To Decorate
An easy and cheap way to decorate for Christmas is to fill up a bowl or vase with ornaments or pinecones. Another creative way is to hang them on a simple branch. I found pinecones on a walk with Teddy and used it as decor.
Add Small Faux or Real Christmas Trees
If you don’t have room for a large tree you can get a smaller pine tree that’s either real or faux or you can have both! This Live Christmas tree from Home Depot was about $20.
Make a Brush Bottle Tree Forest
I absolutely love this trend! It’s so easy to transform a shelf or mantle by adding a few brush bottle trees. Or get crazy and make a full forest! The larger brush bottle trees are about $10-$15 at Target and the smaller brush bottle trees came in a set for $15.
Build A Christmas Village
Just like the brush bottle trees, you can create a whole Christmas village (city) or use a few to decorate a shelf. I found these decorative figurines at the dollar section at Target.
