It can be difficult navigating the world of influencer marketing especially when you are a micro-influencer below 10K followers. I always thought I wasn’t a big enough account to start working with brands until I hit the magical 10K following. But that is simply not truly. I was lucky enough to land a brand deal with under 5K followers as a dog-only account on Instagram. (Check the photos below to see my first every paid campaigns back n 2018 as a dog-only account.) But I was uncertain what other brands would be willing to work with a micro-influencer such as me. If you are like me and not sure what brands would be willing to do a paid collaboration. I found a few ways to find brands that work with influencers on Instagram, specifically micro-influencers.

How To Find Brands To Work With On Instagram As A Micro-Influencer
Find Brands You Use Daily And Pitch Them Directly
The easiest way to find brands that work with micro-influencers is by looking at the products you use daily and pitching those brands directly. You already love the product and have great things to say about the company. This makes it easier to create a pitch to the brand. In your pitch include the following:
- Who you are as a brand.
- What product from the brand do you love and why.
- Add what you can do for the brand. Give them a brief overview of a content idea or two.
- Include a media kit or your most impressive stats.
- Also include a link to your social media or website (so they do not need to go searching.)
Make sure to follow-up in 1-2 weeks.
Find Brands That Work With Other Micro-Influencers
Another way to find brands that will work with you is by looking for brands that have already worked with other influencers. This means that the company actively makes room in their budget to work with influencers. Take a look at your favorite accounts that work with brands regularly and make a list of brands they work with that you may want to partner with in the future. Look at accounts in and out of your niche. I may be in the dog mom niche but companies such as Fruit and Flower Wine and Luna Bar partnered with me because I fit their demographic of a millennial female. You can also search the hashtags #ad or #sponsored to find brands. Keep in mind the influencers may not be micro-influencers. After you make a list of possible brands, directly pitch to them.
Find Brands To Collaborate With On Influencer Networks
The last way I recommend finding brands is through Influencer Networks. Unsure what influencer networks are? They are 3rd party companies that connect influencers with brands who are looking for sponsored content. You will need to apply to them and get accepted before you can start applying to brands on their network. There are many pros and cons to working with influencer networks. Overall it’s is a great way to start working with brands and building a portfolio if you do not have the confidence to pitch to brands directly.
