This easy homemade gingerbread dog treat recipe will get you in the mood for the holidays. The recipe calls for only six ingredients. Your dog will love them!
Prep Time 40 minutes mins
Cook Time 20 minutes mins
- 1 Cup Flour
- 2 tbsp Molasses
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 cup Water
- Plain greek yogurt for decorating
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Combine oil, molasses, and egg in a small bowl.
Shift flour, ginger, and cinnamon into a large bowl.
Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes.
Flour your workspace and roll the ball of dough out to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut dough into shapes with fun holiday-themed cookie cutters.
Place cookies on a baking sheet or parchment paper and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden.
Allow cookies to completely cool on a wire rack.
After the gingerbread dog treats cool to room temperature, use greek yogurt to decorate the gingerbread men dog treats.
- It is safe for Dogs to have a small amount of molasses but make sure your molasses does not have artificial sweeteners (such as Xylitol). If you feel hesitant or unsure how your dog's GI will react to molasses you can substitute for peanut butter, but note the treats may not look or taste the same.
- Refrigerating the dough is important as it's very sticky otherwise. I recommend longer than 30 minutes if you have the time.
